A French Louis XV period velvet and gold thread armorial gaming purse
A French gaming purse ( also called : Dévolu) in red velvet embroidered in gold thread , lined in calfskin, with a coat of arms of three fleurs de lys surmounted with the crown of an earl and the lambel for a younger son.
Maybe for the counts of Estaing of the counts of Razilly in Anjou.
French, mid-18th century.

The gaming purses were used among others for playing cards at the court of Versailles .
